How to Size a Motorcycle Cover in Five Minutes

A cover that is too small will not reach the ground and the wind gets under it. A cover that is too big flaps against the paint. Five minutes with a tape measure fixes both.

  1. Measure the length. Run the tape from the front of the front tire to the very back of the rear fender or rack. If you have a hitch, a luggage rack or a trailer plug that sticks out, measure to the end of it.
  1. Measure the height. Go from the ground to the highest point, which is usually the windshield or the mirrors. Fold the mirrors in if you normally cover the bike with them folded.
  1. Add what you carry. Hard saddlebags and a top case make the bike wider and taller. If you leave them on, size up one step.
  1. Compare with the chart. Every cover listing has a size chart in inches. Pick the size where both your length and height fit, not just one of them.
  1. Check the details. A heat-resistant panel near the exhaust lets you cover the bike soon after a ride. Vents stop moisture from getting trapped. A lock hole and an elastic hem keep it in place on windy nights.

Still between two sizes? Send us the length, the height and the model of your bike, and we will tell you which one to order.
